International Day of Mathematics 2021
The second International Day of Mathematics will be celebrated on March 14, 2021 and the theme is .
The global celebration will start as March 14 begins in Oceania and end 48 hours later at the end of March 14. It will consist of liveblogging pictures and videos from IDM events worldwide, posters, announcements and more. Posting can be done on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, using the hashtag #idm314.
New Editorial Board for Transactions
The Transactions now has a new, separate editorial board. It continues to welcome papers of a general or specialised nature that represent a significant advance in mathematical knowledge, as well as submissions that are deemed to stimulate new interest and research activity. The journal is fully open access and compliant with an increasing number of funding mandates
Cecil King Travel Scholarships
The London Mathematical Society administers two £6,000 travel awards funded by the Cecil King Memorial Foundation for early career mathematicians, to support a period of study or research abroad, typically for a period of three months. One Scholarship will be awarded to a mathematician in any area of mathematics and one to a mathematician whose research is applied in a discipline other than mathematics.
Levelling Up: Maths
The Levelling Up Scheme, being piloted by the LMS thanks to a generous donation from Dr Tony Hill, and in collaboration with Durham University and the University of Leicester, is supporting the provision of online tutoring and pastoral support for A-level mathematics students from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds.
